Ideally situated in the stunning countryside of Witchampton, we are surrounded by wide open green space, beautiful woodland and a meandering river. This magnificent area is a safe place for us to go out and explore, be at one with nature, have fun and learn.
Forest School is an inspirational concept providing learning opportunities through practical activities in an outdoor environment. Children enjoy the freedom to explore and experience the natural world in all seasons and in all weathers. Forest School embraces an approach of nurturing, supporting and developing the self-esteem of participants. It is an ideal environment in which to develop innovation, problem solving, risk taking, creativity and team work.
These sessions will run in a two week rotating timetable to allow all Little Owls to benefit from the outdoor learning programme.
Week 1: Tuesday AM and Thursday AM
Week 2: Monday AM and Friday AM
Please make sure your child has everything they need for Forest School including:
Wellies or walking boots with warm socks
Waterproof overalls or waterproof coat and trousers
Hat and gloves
Warm, long sleeved clothing which can get muddy!
A named water bottle
A change of clothes to be kept at Little Owls in a bag for afternoon sessions if needed.
Please help the children and the staff by labelling all items clearly with your child’s name.
Little Owls Pre School staff are trained in First Aid. Staffing ratios will be adhered to and any pupils who require 1:1 support will have this during our outdoor learning sessions. These sessions are inclusive and planned to allow all pupils regardless of abilities to participate and enjoy fully.
The safety and welfare of the pupils participating in outdoor learning is paramount and therefore all the tasks are age appropriate and risk assessments are in place.
